Admission Policies

 

ADMISSION POLICY

 

Sacred Heart School is first and foremost a parish school. Every effort is made to minister to the parish children and their families first. All incoming students are academically tested and will, upon satisfactory performance, be admitted as follows: 

Priority 1: Students whose families are registered, established, and active parishioners of Sacred Heart as verified by the use of Church envelopes and whose families submit their registration by the required dates.       

Priority 2: Students who have siblings currently attending Sacred Heart School.

Priority 3: Transferring Catholic school students whose families will be registering at Sacred Heart Church;

Priority 4: Students from other parishes and recently registered Sacred Heart families;

Priority 5: Non-Catholic students from outside the Parish whose families will support the school.

 

All incoming kindergartners must be five years old before September 1st of the current school year. A pupil entering the first grade must be six years of age before September 1st of the current school year.

SCHOOL STUDENT NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

 

The school, mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color, or national and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.

 The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, sex, or national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies and practices, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs, although certain athletic leagues and other programs may limit participation and some archdiocesan schools operate as single sex schools.

 While the school does not discriminate against students with special needs, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student’s emotional, academic and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student’s needs.

PARENT PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT

This AGREEMENT by and between SACRED HEART SCHOOL (hereafter referred to as the School) and

Mr. and/or Mrs. (hereafter referred to as the Parents or Guardians), is entered into as follows:

1. The Parents or Guardians agree to be members of the PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION of SACRED HEART SCHOOL.

2. The Parents agree that at least one parent per family will attend the three GENERAL MEETINGS of the PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION of SACRED HEART SCHOOL.

3. The Parents agree that their role is that of being primary educators of their children. This implies a cooperation between school and home in the development of the student’s spiritual, intellectual, physical, and emotional growth.

4. The Parents agree to comply with all rules stated in the SACRED HEART SCHOOL HANDBOOK.

5. The Parents agree that they will be responsible for:

a) purchasing SCRIP which will give Sacred Heart School a profit of $160.00 per family by the end of May 2010;

b) volunteering 30 hours per family for the school year or paying $300.00 by the end of May 2010.

c) purchasing or selling 1 (one)  $100.00 raffle ticket for the  $10,000.00 Drawing (you will receive your ticket in the Aug. packet).

6. Parents may pay tuition in full or tuition may be paid in ten (10) monthly payments. Tuition is payable by personal check, money order or cashier’s check. All payments are to be made to: Sacred Heart School.

a) Tuition plan choice will be evaluated by the pastor every June and January. (You must use your envelopes regularly to be considered as Plan I.

b) Tuition is NOT tax deductible.

c) Tuition must be paid on or before the 15th of each month. The first monthly tuition payment is due August 15, 2010.

d) A late fee of $15.00 will be charged if tuition is paid after the 25th of each month. If tuition is not paid by the last day of the month, you will be notified that your child/children will not be able to return to Sacred Heart School until the tuition is brought up to date.

This Agreement may be terminated by SACRED HEART SCHOOL if the Parents do not adhere to said Agreement. Termination of the agreement will consist of dismissal of child/children at the end of the first semester or denial of registration of child/children for the coming school year.

This Agreement shall be effective only after being signed by a parent or a guardian.
